Quick Shopping Cart 2.2 release

Greetings and salutations,

Quick Shopping Cart Version 2.2 made it into the wild and contains several new features.

On Safari

With the addition of Safari 3.0 support to the administration section of your Quick Shopping cart, you can now use Safari with QSC.

Website Tonight link integration.

For people who use both QSC and our Web site builder, we've made it easier to create a common navigation between the two programs.

How do I get it?

To set up this relationship, log into your QSC store, select Menu Customization from the Storefront menu, and then click the Add button. Select WebSite Tonight from the Page list and enter the label for the hyperlink to your WST site. Select the WST site and specify the window or frame in which you want the site to open. We default to none, which replaces your storefront with the front page of your Web site. You can set the order in which this link displays and preview the page prior to publishing your storefront with these changes.

Instructions on how to set up the reciprocal link within WST can be found on their product blog .Note both QSC and the active WST site must be in the same shopper account.

Continue Shopping

Many of our store owners asked for an option to link back to their main site from the cart summary page, just prior to the purchase process. We’ve added the ability to “continue shopping.” You can customize the label and specify the destination URL for the hyperlink.

How do I get it?

Select Preferences fro the Storefront menu. Select Override Continue Shopping Destination and enter the URL you want to use.

Fixed items

Update Yahoo!/Overture conversion tracking to support a new ID. Read more about this in our help system ( links to article). Basically, you must change your conversion tracking information; however, your legacy Yahoo!/Overture ID will continue to work for the time being. Any other updates to this screen require you to provide us with your new Marketing ID and Yahoo!(r) Server information.

Per a user’s request, we updated new order email to include phone numbers. There are many more small changes you may notice as you navigate through your account. Until next time, keep your suggestions and comments coming.

John

Guys - great job on your updates and improvements. You're listening to your customers, which is a great thing! I see many comments having to do with handling International orders - and we too have a real need to be able to more gracefully accommodate International orders. When can we expect an enhancement to QSC which will allow us to accept International orders? Thanks!

      Chad,

Greetings  and thank you for the kind words.  As mentioned  we have been listening and  international shipping is one of the most requested items from this blog and our other feedback sources.   I can tell you that work has been moving towards the inclusion of international shipping for a future release of Quick Shopping Cart and  we're putting steps in place to accommodate this.     I know I've not given a timeline for this publicly but  I do want  to assure you we're aware of the need and your comments have not gone unnoticed.

I was wondering if any attention is being placed on the issue of order modification and partial refunds. The lack of ability to change item options in an existing order is frustrating (i.e. customer orders an item in blue and we need to change the color to green or change the item completely). The refund issue is also a problem in that many of our refunds and exchanges involve partial refunds. Freight is never refunded as I am sure is the policy of most online retailers and yet the cart forces refunds to be all or nothing.

    Thanks!

      David,

You are correct that there's not much leeway in being able to modify orders once they have been received and it's something  I need to have a look at.  At the same time the refund procedure is lacking in flexibility and the matter of shipping  being exempt is a common situation that makes sense for us to address.  I'm going to request that we add these to a future version of the app. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

      Greetings Ben,

International shipping is still on our roadmap but  I don't have a release date for the feature presently. With regards to including additional/optional  fields within the cart we'll certainly be looking at that for a future release.

I need a report generator that will compile all the active invoices for a set time period and export them into Excel. I love the reports already present but I will have over 2500 items in my shopping cart and hundreds of customers. I need a way to compile all the orders for a date range that I can specify that pulls all the order information form each invoice form that time period and puts it into a simple excel doc. It would be great to be able to designate what kinds of invoices to pull the data from such as active, invoiced, canceled. Allowing me to decided for example to pull all info form active and invoiced. I would need Part Numbers, short Descriptions, Qty ordered, costs and totals to be the fields that are pulled in.
This seems to be a pretty simple function and would be a great help in compiling all my orders into one place so I can then place my orders with my vendors. Can you please consider this option for QSC as an added report.

      Greetings Mike,

Thank you for your feedback on the current report feature. Sorry for the delay in replying to you.    These look like worthwhile additions to this feature and we're considering doing so within a future edition of QSC.  We'll certainly take that  workflow into account.

I would like to see the ability to re-direct my customers to my main web site product catalog, from the QSC, rather than to the QSC "OUR PRODUCTS" page. Is it possible to rewrite the html to change the URL to accomplish this???

Super job in making the change to the "continue shopping" link before checkout. But, could you also allow the customer to link back to the main site from the INVOICE "continue shopping" link??

Some quick questions on the products and category pages:

    Product:
    1) I've an option that, when the dropdown ctrl is engaged, it shows the price difference beside the name of the option. Is it possible to turn off showing the price difference?
    2) Along the same lines, when a different option that effects the price is selected, a new "Adjusted price" field appears and the "Price" gets a strikeout format. Is it possible to just set the action to change the price when a different option is selected?
    3) Is it possible to change the text under the standard product image to say "Click image to enlarge"? The current text ("Click to enlarge") implies that the user should click the text.

    Category:
1)I'm constructing a site for a client. They would rather not have the buttons "Add to cart" and "Options" in the product listing on that page. Is it possible to turn the display of those items off?

    Thanks...

      Greetings Michael,

Firstly sorry for the delay I was sure I'd replied to this by mail separately but I can't find proof that I did so, hence this may be old news

      1)  The price difference is fixed in place presently .

      2) This too is fixed when there's an adjusted price.

      3) It's a good suggestion and I'll take that into account for a future edition.

I'm afraid that Add to Cart / Options are  not removable in this manner but again it's an option  we'll consider.

Any plans on increasing the effectiveness of editing orders once they are placed in the cart? Currently the only edit capability for the customer seems to be changing the quantity or removing the item. Many time my customers want to edit the option they chose (i.e. size or color) after they place the item in the cart. Forcing them to remove the item and start again increases cart abandonment.

Thanks for your consideration on this issue.

Thank you for taking the time to suggests ways in which we could improve the checkout process.  It does indeed seem that such a change would be helpful to store owner and customer.  We'll certainly take a look at including this suggesion within a future release.

      Aaron,

Presently we have support for international users/ shipping on our product roadmap and this will be  addressed  in a  future release.  One of the suggestions as a work around is to have them add your address when creating new accounts , this doesn't work for everyone but many of our cart owners are using this and modify their header / footer to inform their visitors of this.

A small request that would make life a bit easier. When viewing individual orders there is no way to advance to the next order without viewing all orders and then scrolling to select the next order. It would be nice if we could just advance to the next order when viewing an order without having to take that extra step each time.

    Thanks for your consideration.

      David,

Great point.   The workflow  for people that receive many orders can get a bit repetitive  and this is an area we have on our roadmap to improve. Actually that's one small part of the puzzle but it illustrates it nicely. Look out for this in a future release of QSC

I was wondering when we will be able to change the page titles for each catagory so that it does appear as a number i.e.:http://www.shop.lyonsperformance.com/category.sc;jsessionid=EED83D0972ED6F140F1EFE4A2CC1E8F0.qscweb24?categoryId=5
I would like to be able to describe some of the key items on each page title.
Also, how do I edit the alt image text for my images? I have also notices that images in the gif format publish larger that those that are jpg. Why is that?
Anyway, keep up the good work!

      Greetings Matt,

The good news, always start with the good news. We do have that  captured in our roadmap as the current format is  not a great deal of use for search engine results.  That being said

I have several customer now that are using Quick Shopping Cart. I have one that has a magazine company that is interested in offering a way to purchase, login, and view their magazine online. Is there a way to do this with Quick Shopping Cart? Or if not do you have any suggestions on where to go with this.

    Thanks!

      Greetings,

There is a way to do this but there are some caveats.   We presently have a limit of 16Mb for our downloads so as long as the magazine fits then  it can be  downloaded  by a subscriber.    It's for separate purchases  only as we don't have a  subscription model.    The more details I know the better I can determine if we're a good fit.

We love that we have the option to list our items on eBay. However, we also have an eBay Store and it's much cheaper to list our items there (rather than via an online auction). Is there anyway that in the near future we will be able to submit our products directly to our eBay store? Thanks!

I have an idea to improve GoDaddy shopping cart that will cost just about nothing for you to implement.

In addition to allowing merchants to pick "Print and Call" as a payment method allow merchants to pick "Print and Fax Check" . All the site has to do is the EXACT same thing as execute a "Print and Call".

Many merchants can accept faxed checks. Although "Print and Call" is just about the same thing as far as your site programming goes the "Print and Fax Check" option will allow customers to know the merchant accepts faxed checks as payment.

There is no way at all for a merchant to tell customers at check out time they will accept faxed checks. Accepting faxed checks is much cheaper for the merchant and great for customers who are at their credit line or for the few people out there who do not like credit cards or who have companies that like to pay by check.

I am hoping to determine if QSC can do what we need. I make chocolates, and want to let me viewers pick the different kind of chocolate that will make up a box. So I was thinking the "9 piece box" would be the product, then I could use "options" for the flavors, but that doesnt work :(

    Any ideas?
    THANKS!
