A change in the way that we handle comments to our blog.

Greetings,

We’ve upgraded the commenting procedure within the blogging application we use (GoDaddy.com ’s Quick Blogcast) to more effectively counter comment spam.

The first time we receive a comment from an email address unknown to Quick Blogcast, we issue an email asking the sender to confirm their address before passing the comment along. Once the email address has been confirmed, the comment will display to the owner.

I have a few product related questions for the new store front I just set up so I apologize if this is not the right forum.
    1) With the POS Credit Card payment option, we need to collect the 3 digit 'authorization' code on the back of credit cards so we can manually process the transaction. There is an authorization code field in the Order Manager screen, but how do we ask for the authorization code to be entered by the purchaser along with credit card # and expiry date when they place the order?
    2) The 'upload' product feature is great. Is there any way to include the 'Options' in the template? Many of the products we sell have 'options' and at present we have to upload the products from the template and then edit each product 1 by 1 to add the options.

      Hi Neil

      To answer your questions:
      1.  We do not store CVV value with the POS method as it is against Payment Card Industry regulations.
      2.  Unfortunately the upload template is rather limited and it requires the fields to already be in the database to be uploaded to.  For example, you have to already have your categories defined before uploading products.  So, at the moment, we do not have the ability to have options in the template.

      Thanks for the contributions,

If QSC cannot transmit CVV numbers then how do you suggest we go about obtaining it? I do not allow my employees to run cards without the CVV because it increases the risk fraudulent purchases. Also, as merchants we are charged higher fees without the CVV. Please advise.

          Greetings,

While I appreciate  this is something that's an inconvenience it's one mandated by the PCI board and it's not one that we can circumvent, or suggest a way to do so other than  using a  payment gateway on the shopping cart.  I.e it has to be taken at the time the CC info is submitted for authorization and then discarded which is not possible  when the   transaction is being run after the"purchase".  Quick Shopping Cart previously included a field for the CVV code on the order page for Point of Sale (POS) transactions. However, this field was removed  for compliance with current regulations.

If you want to capture the CVV code, you can use a payment gateway such as Innovative, Authorize.NET, or QuickBooks Merchant Services, or your customers can use PayPal, where the credit card transaction is handled on PayPal's site.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) clearly states* that there are three pieces of data that may not be stored after authorization is complete (regardless of whether you are handling card-present or card-not-present transactions):

This is one of those cases were I  have no latitude with regards to workarounds.

Our Quick Shopping Cart store sells yarn/knitting-related products. We carry each type of yarn in several colors and would like to be able to input the quantity of each color in the options section. For example, if we have a total of 20 skeins of "Moods" yarn, broken up into 12 skeins of blue yarn and 8 skeins of pink, there doesn't seem to be any way to link these quantities to the color options. As a result, a customer could order 9 skeins of pink yarn and the order would go through, since we have a total of 20 skeins of this particular yarn. However, the customer would have no clue that we only had 8 skeins of the pink yarn in stock and would have difficulty in filling the order. Therefore, in the past, we have had to list each color of the same yarn separately (as separate products), in order to input the quantity of each color accurately. This method is very redundant and takes a lot of extra time. We were hoping that the recent upgrade to Quick Shopping Cart would have rectified this quirk, but apparently, that has not happened. Is there any way to get around this "bug" or any plans to hopefully fix this bug in the next upgrade?

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

    Sincerely,

    Deborah

We are aware of the current limitation in the inventory handling of options.  As you have described, if you need to capture inventory, you need to have everything as its own product.  Improving inventory is something that is further down the long term roadmap.

    Hi,

Currently I use Daisy for my template. Since I see that you have been adding new templates (of which I have tried), I was wondering if you guys would be able to make some subtle changes to the Daisy one so it could be more versatile. Could you perhaps create a third Daisy one that has the softer colors of Baby Things or I Do templates? And would it be possible to have the daisies not showing in the header block and just have it blank like you have done some of the other ones? I really love the Daisy template, but the colors are really too dark for a baby website. I have tried adjusting the colors, but it really looks funky when the daisies in the header block stay the same color when everything else has changed. If it is possible to make those changes and create a third Daisy template, you would make me a very happy person. Any idea yet on when to expect a gift registry? This would also help my business tremendously and I have no doubt many of the other ones as well. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks,

I use the WebConnector to transfer my customer invoices to QuickBooks. For the most part it works pretty well, but there are some big problems that really should be fixed:

    1. When a QSC invoice is brought into QB, it is dated with the date the invoice was created, not the date the sale was closed. This is flat out wrong and it is a big problem for anyone who has to pay sales tax, especially those of us who pay monthly. The way it works now, sales tax data for previous months can change each time an order is completed in a current month if that order was created in a previous month. That gives us a moving target which make it almost impossible to determine the correct sales tax due. I did not notice this right away, but I am in the middle of a sales tax audit and this error is costing me hundreds of dollars in accounting fees as well as penalties and interest.

What we really urgently need is for the WebConnector to use the date the order was CLOSED on the QB sales receipts, instead of the date the order was CREATED. That will solve the problem!

BTW, this problem is also seen in the reports, which only show shipped invoices, and which use the create date, rather than the closed date.

    2) The items are all coming over as a single item called QSC Item. What we really need is for the WebConnector to specify the correct item in QB.

    3. Sales tax is coming into QB as a line item in the sales receipts. It should be broken out as the sales tax.

Is it possible to get a fix in for any of these problems anytime soon?

Most of these items that appear are very much in the "sometimes denied" though without direct examples of which engines would reject it under which circumstance it's very useful to troubleshoot. The use of a ?  does not preclude the page being discovered and ranked. There's certainly discussion on whether they are ranked at a lower value than a static page but I've not seen a major engine refuse to index on the basis of those characters withing a URL.  While I've not fully examined the implications of this  most of the items mentioned  such as proprietary attribute are nothing more than us creating an item for our application to use. While I am certainly interested in looking at tidying up some of the items it's highlighted  I don't have any practical steps you could currently take to avoid most of these messages  but I am sure, though verifying this, that all the items mentioned have a negligible impact on how your pages will rank.

A work around that some people have been using is to offer  4 separate products  e.g  1-10 10-25 .. etc and then using that as the basis for the pricing for  multi items though it's not that neat when you have many items within the store.   We're always looking at ways to better represent the attributes of items  including keeping separate stock figures, pricing schemes  etc.  Thank you for taking the time to make the request is really does help us in terms of which items to work on next.

While the unlimited products is a promise we make there are, limitations on how many can be acted upon at a time. This depends on many factors relating to the owner's store that it's hard to give an accurate determination of how many changes can be made at ones. A workaround for this issue would be splitting the spreadsheet up into 11 items of 1000 and then uploading those separately would achieve the result required.

We're looking into ways to improve the way this is handled within a future version.

It also does not take all the deletions at once. Such as: When I look on my site it says 30 items deleted, then I publish and it says 7 items deleted, then I publish and it says 19 items deleted. Is there a queue holding these deletions somewhere? I really do not get why it is doing this. This is not something I need to constantly do, I just want to get the site up and going in a way that is more presentable to our customers, then it will be minor changes. It was so easy to upload all of our products initially, I never would have done so, if I realized the problem with multiple deletes. Should my deletions be taking this long? Thank you for your help.

    (2) For those of us who utilize the address export feature it would be nice if the following additional data could be included in the export file:

    - shipping method
    - weight
    - number of items purchased

I am currently using shipping software and have to manually add these fields to the export file. In addition the export file must be converted to a csv file before it can be imported into any shipping software. Any chance the the file can be exported as a csv file instead or in addition to an xls file in order to save a step?

I have another question about shipping features. We offer our customers different grades of delivery - standard delivery and inside delivery - for many items. It is very confusing for a customer to reach the shipping options during the process of checking out and seeing only one radio button labeled 'standard' only to find they had to select inside delivery as an option back on the product page. Will there soon be a way to create further options there? Or, perhaps a way to add an item like inside delivery - which is a set cost - to the order during the checkout process? We just wish our shipping options could be there in the shipping options box instead of only having a single option.

While this seems like a minor issue it is extremely important that the customer can easily find and see the product prices. Many of my customers are older and have a bit more difficulty with small fonts. I would like to see either the font size increased and in bold type or have the ability to modify the font size and weight in the options menu. I don't feel that this would alter the integrity or overall appearance of the template.
